The Johnnywriter Journal: The Loneliness of Being an Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurship is often described in terms of freedom and opportunity. Less often discussed is a specific kind of loneliness that comes with it — not the absence of people around you, but the difficulty of being fully understood by them while you are building something new.
The Loneliness of Carrying Decisions Alone
Many decisions in building a business ultimately rest on one person's judgment, especially in the early stages. Even with a supportive team or family, there is a version of that decision-making weight that cannot be fully shared, because the responsibility for the outcome sits with you specifically.
Being Misunderstood by People Who Care About You
Some of the loneliest moments come not from strangers, but from people close to you who genuinely care but do not fully understand why you are pursuing an uncertain path, or why a particular setback matters as much as it does to you. Meaningful support during hard entrepreneurial seasons rarely appears automatically.
